Best task management software for CA firms in India (2026)

A CA firm does not have a to-do list. It has the same fifteen tasks repeating for every client, every month, quarter and year — and a partner who has to know, on the 18th, which of 300 GSTR-3Bs are still open. The best task management software for CA firms generates that work instead of waiting for you to type it. We ranked nine tools on how much of the task list they create, assign, track and close on their own.

Our #1 pick: QwikCA (4.8/5) — Kanban boards fed by auto-created GST/TDS/ITR tasks, with timesheets and productivity reports. Used by 2,000+ firms and 5,000+ active users. Read the review

How we ranked the best task management software for CA firms

We scored this list on the task lifecycle rather than the feature grid. Six questions decided the order: does the software create recurring tasks per client and per period on its own; can you assign them to named staff and articles under proper access control; does the task carry a checklist; is there a board a partner can read in ten seconds; are timesheets attached to the task; and does closure mean more than a card dragged across a screen. Positions 1–8 carry the same verified scoring as our 2026 rankings, with third-party scores always cited alongside their review counts, since independent review volume here is small. Position 9 is a tool we researched but haven't fully scored. The method lives on how we review.

Generic project tools vs CA-specific task management

Almost every firm we speak to tried the generic route first — Trello, Asana, Notion or one of their cousins. It is a reasonable starting point: the boards are good and staff learn them in an afternoon. The problem isn't that these tools are bad at task management; it is that a CA firm's tasks are not arbitrary. They are dictated by a statutory calendar, they repeat per client per period, and they end in a fee. A generic project tool carries none of that — no Indian compliance calendar, no way to create a task per client per period, no billing at the end. So a human becomes the compliance calendar, rebuilding the month's board by hand. That manual layer scales with your client list, lives in one person's head, and fails quietly.

Generic project management tools compared with CA-specific task management software
Need Generic PM tool CA-specific tool
The month's work list Typed in by hand, board by board, every month Generated per client and per period from the compliance calendar
Due dates Dates you enter yourself; nothing knows GSTR-3B is the 20th GST, ITR, TDS and ROC dates built in, with pre-deadline reminders
Quarterly vs monthly filers No concept of QRMP — you maintain two lists Task generation reads each client's filing frequency
Proof the work is done A card dragged to 'Done' by whoever dragged it Closure tied to portal-confirmed filing status
Client follow-up You chase from WhatsApp, separately, by hand Templated WhatsApp and email chasing fired from the task
Documents Attachments, or a link to a drive folder somewhere Client portal uploads into an encrypted vault, attached to the task
Time and profitability Time tracking bolted on, if at all; no fee context Timesheets against the task, feeding productivity reports
Getting paid No billing — the fee lives in a different system GST-compliant invoice raised from the completed task, with a UPI link

Six task-management features a CA firm should refuse to live without

Demo scripts are long and sales calls persuasive, so take this list in with you. If a tool cannot show all six working on your own client data inside a trial, it is a project tool with a CA label on it.

  • Recurring tasks generated per client, per period. Not a template you clone. The software should read your client list and the statutory calendar and produce next month's GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B tasks, this quarter's TDS returns and this year's ITRs before anyone opens the app.
  • Assignment to staff and articles, under role-based access. Every task needs a named owner and a reviewer — and an article shouldn't see the partner's fee notes. RBAC is what makes it safe to give twelve people a login.
  • Checklists inside the task. The steps of a GSTR-9 don't change, but the person doing it does. A checklist on the task is how a firm survives articles rotating out every three years — the cheapest quality control you will ever buy.
  • A Kanban or status view a partner can read in ten seconds. On the 18th you need one screen showing what is not started, what is waiting on the client, what is with the reviewer and what is filed. If that takes a meeting, the software has failed.
  • Timesheets tied to tasks, and productivity reports on top. Hours logged against a day tell you nothing. Hours logged against a task tell you which clients are quietly unprofitable.
  • Closure tied to actual filing. The most dangerous state in a practice is a task marked done that was never filed. The strongest tools settle it with evidence — QwikCA auto-fetches GST portal filing status, and TaxAdda keeps a task open until GSTN confirms the return.

If the category is new to you, our practice management software glossary entry defines the boundaries, and the best CA office management software guide covers the wider office layer that sits around the task board.

  1. 1

    QwikCA

    #1 of 9 — Best overall
4.8 From ₹1,000/year (excl. 18% GST) · unlimited clients on every plan

QwikCA takes the top spot because it answers the hardest question on this page first: where does the task come from? Point it at your client list and it auto-creates the GST, TDS and ITR tasks for every client and every period, so the month's work exists before anyone types a word. Those tasks land on Kanban boards with recurring schedules and checklists, so the same standard applies whether a five-year manager or a first-year article picks the work up. The compliance calendar fires smart reminders before the due date, and when work stalls on a client, templated WhatsApp and email chasing goes out from the task itself.

The supervision layer is equally complete. Role-based access gives partners, managers, staff and articles their own view of the board; timesheets attach hours to the task rather than the day; and productivity and profitability reports turn both into the number a partner actually wants. A staff mobile app (Android and iOS, alongside the client app) lets articles at a client's premises update work without reaching a desk, with GPS attendance for field teams. Closure is evidenced: GST portal auto-fetch confirms what has genuinely been filed, so "done" matches reality. Around it sit the things a task drags with it — an AES-256 document vault fed by the client portal, DSC expiry tracking, a UDIN register and GST-compliant billing with Razorpay/UPI links.

It is proven across 2,000+ firms and 5,000+ active users — Indian CA, CS and tax practices of every size, from solo offices through mid-to-large, multi-branch firms. The honest caveats: it is cloud-only with no on-premise install, statutory-audit and ROC/MCA workflow depth runs lighter than the legacy filing suites, and while DSC expiry is tracked there is no in-app e-signing.

    Pros

    • Kanban boards fed by auto-created GST/TDS/ITR tasks per client and period
    • Recurring tasks with checklists, plus RBAC for partners, staff and articles
    • Timesheets tied to tasks, with productivity and profitability reports
    • Staff and client mobile apps, WhatsApp/email chasing, GST portal auto-fetch on closure

    Cons

    • No on-premise option — QwikCA is cloud-only
    • Audit and ROC/MCA workflows run shallower than the legacy filing suites
    • Tracks DSC expiry but can't e-sign documents in-app

Plans are flat and yearly (excl. 18% GST), with unlimited clients on every tier: Solo ₹1,000, Starter ₹7,500 (10 users), Growth ₹12,500 (20 users, the most popular tier), Scale ₹17,000 (40) and Enterprise ₹27,000 (60), or ₹100/user/month billed yearly. There is a one-month free trial with no card and a 30-day money-back guarantee, though no permanent free plan.

  2. 2

    Jamku

    4.7 From ₹6,500/yr (5 users)

Jamku's task layer is dependable rather than flashy: tasks per client, status tracking, and document and billing management sitting under the compliance dashboard users name as the reason they stay. Its Capterra score of 4.5/5 from 36 reviews is the largest independent signal among the challengers. Two things to test on a demo — recurring-task generation and notifications run lighter than the tools above it, and GST/IT portal sync, the UDIN register and DSC-expiry alerts sit in the separately priced Jamku Portal add-on. Our QwikCA vs Jamku comparison maps the differences.

  3. 3

    Turia

    4.6 From ₹100/user/mo

Turia is the pick when the work happens away from a desk. Its compliance calendar spans GST, ITR, TDS and ROC — down to DIN KYC, AOC-4 and MGT-7 — and feeds a task list staff work through on Android or iOS, a real advantage for firms whose juniors spend half the week at client premises. WhatsApp and email automation handle the chasing that otherwise stalls a task mid-board, a DSC register raises expiry alerts, and Tally and Zoho Books integrations cut the copy-paste. At ₹100–₹200/user/month it is excellent value; note the 5-user minimum on per-user plans, and that SMS automation isn't offered.

  4. 4

    Finexo

    4.5 From ₹5,999/yr (10 users)

Finexo earns its place on task generation. It auto-creates GST, ITR and TDS tasks for every client and period and — the detail that matters — factors each client's QRMP status, so quarterly filers don't collect twelve phantom monthly tasks a year. ROC/MCA tracking and DSC alerts extend the idea to annual work, versioned documents stay attached to the task, and an encrypted credential vault means whoever picks it up can actually do it. Bulk WhatsApp, SMS and email cover the chasing, at a flat ₹5,999/year for 10 users. It has fewer public reviews than the veterans, and Tally/government-portal integrations weren't confirmed in our research. QwikCA vs Finexo covers the rest.

  5. 5

    ERPCA

    4.5 From ₹200/user/mo

If any tool here was built around task workflows first, it's ERPCA — task and billing pipelines are its strongest muscle, and Woodapple has been refining them since 2008. Work moves through defined stages, gets assigned, and converts into an invoice without re-entry, the most valuable join in a practice tool. A client portal keeps clients in the same loop, and the mobile app ships in nine languages. Integrations cover Tally, Google Drive, Dropbox, Razorpay and PayPal, at ₹200/user/month. The honest limits: deep GST/ITR/ROC filing automation isn't its centre of gravity, so more of the task list starts life manually, and a few users mention slow data screens at peak. See QwikCA vs ERPCA.

  6. 4.5 From Partly public

ATOM, built in Hyderabad by Vider and carrying ISO 27001 certification, leads with workflows: a configurable path per engagement type, role-based access so partners, managers, staff and articles each see what they should, and timesheets attached to the work — the combination that lets a firm answer "who is overloaded?" with data instead of a guess. A portal-synced GST/IT/TDS/MCA calendar feeds the board, and recurring billing closes it. Techjockey scores it 4.9/5 from just 13 reviews. What holds it at #6 here: no mobile app, so staff in the field can't update a task, and only partly public pricing (₹1,788/user/year excl GST per Techjockey) — get a written quote. QwikCA vs Vider ATOM goes deeper.

  7. 4.3 From Free / ₹2,950/org/mo

Zoho Practice brings the most polished task interface here, and a familiar one for firms already living in Zoho. Recurring tasks cover the repeating compliance cycle, Workpapers give the work structure rather than leaving it in a comment thread, client document requests chase the inputs, workflow automation moves tasks on rules, and timesheets feed billing — with a self-service client portal on Premium. Pricing is ₹2,950/org/month billed annually for up to five users and ₹8,950 for Premium, plus a free tier for Zoho Finance partners. Outside the Zoho ecosystem the case weakens: no native ITR or ROC e-filing to close a task against, no confirmed mobile app, and no Capterra reviews yet. See QwikCA vs Zoho Practice.

  8. 4.1 From ₹1,999/yr

TaxAdda is the lean option for tax-focused practices, and it gets one thing more right than tools twice its price: a GST task cannot be closed on someone's word — it stays open until the GSTN server confirms the return went through. Around that sit due-date tracking, task delegation, time tracking and bulk chasing, priced by client volume from ₹1,999/year (100 GST, 300 IT clients) to ₹6,999 (500 GST, unlimited IT), with unlimited users on every plan. It is deliberately narrow: no client portal, no native mobile app, no ROC or audit module, and SoftwareSuggest's 5/5 rests on just 2 reviews. Growing firms outgrow it — see QwikCA vs TaxAdda.

    Webtel Web-Edge

    Researched, not fully reviewed

Web-Edge, from Webtel Electrosoft, is a 100% cloud office manager for CAs, CS and lawyers, and it earns a place here for the part of task management most tools skip: the economics. Alongside task management and team management with access controls, it offers time and attendance tracking, resource cost analysis and capacity planning — the features that answer whether you can take on twenty more clients before January without hiring. Webtel's filing products make a single-vendor stack straightforward. We haven't completed a hands-on review, so we aren't scoring it or repeating claims we can't verify. Two caveats: pricing isn't public, and Web-Edge carries little independent review signal, so push for references on the demo call.

Turning nine tools into a shortlist of two

Don't demo nine platforms. Pick two against the part of your task list that is currently manual. If the work list is built by hand every month, start with the generation leaders — QwikCA or Finexo. If your staff work away from the office and update nothing until they return, weigh QwikCA and Turia for their mobile apps. If completed work never turns into an invoice, ERPCA's task-to-billing pipeline is the specialist, and Vider ATOM is the one to see if RBAC and timesheets across a larger team are the priority. Zoho shops should trial Zoho Practice first, and a small tax-only office can get a long way on TaxAdda. Then run one honest trial: twenty real clients, real deadlines, three weeks. Our buying guide has the full checklist; moving from Excel covers migration; and if deadlines rather than tasks are what keep you up, our compliance management software guide and the top 10 practice management countdown approach the same field from the other side. One note on dates: GSTR-1 falls on the 11th (13th for QRMP filers), GSTR-3B on the 20th, ITR on 31 July for non-audit and 31 October for audit cases — but these shift by notification, so verify against the portal near the deadline.

Task management software for CA firms: FAQs

What is the best task management software for CA firms in 2026?

QwikCA tops our 2026 list at 4.8/5. It removes the most manual work from the task list itself: GST, TDS and ITR tasks are created automatically for every client and period, they land on Kanban boards with recurring schedules and checklists, and they close against GST portal status rather than someone's say-so. Jamku (4.7) and Turia (4.6) are excellent, well-regarded alternatives, and ERPCA is the specialist if task-to-invoice workflow is your biggest gap.

Can't we just use Trello, Asana or Notion for our CA firm?

You can, and plenty of firms start there. What the generic project tools do not carry is the part specific to an Indian practice: no compliance calendar for GST, ITR, TDS and ROC dates, no way to generate a task per client per period, and no billing at the end. Someone recreates the month's work list by hand, every month, and the fee is invoiced somewhere else. At 40 clients that is an annoyance; at 300 it is a full-time job. Our practice management software glossary entry explains where the category line sits.

What features should CA task tracking software have?

Six: recurring tasks generated per client per period from a real Indian compliance calendar; assignment to named staff and articles with role-based access; checklists inside the task; a status view a partner can read in ten seconds; timesheets tied to the task rather than the day; and closure evidenced against portal-confirmed filing status. Our buying guide turns each into a demo question.

How much does work management software for chartered accountants cost?

Verified 2026 figures, all excl. 18% GST: TaxAdda from ₹1,999/year with unlimited users; QwikCA from ₹1,000/year (Solo) to ₹27,000/year (Enterprise, 60 users) with unlimited clients throughout, or ₹100/user/month billed yearly; Finexo ₹5,999/year for 10 users; Jamku from ₹6,500/year for up to 5 users; Turia ₹100–₹200/user/month with a 5-user minimum; ERPCA ₹200/user/month; Zoho Practice ₹2,950/org/month billed annually for up to 5 users. Vider ATOM publishes only part of its pricing and Webtel Web-Edge publishes none — budget for a sales call on both.

Does task management software file GST or income tax returns?

No, and be suspicious of any workflow software for a CA office that claims it does. These tools create the task, assign it, chase the client, track the hours and raise the fee — they do not compute or e-file returns, and QwikCA, our #1, is explicit about that boundary. Pair the task layer with a filing engine: see the best GST software for CA firms and the best income tax software for CAs. The exception is closure: QwikCA auto-fetches GST filing status, and TaxAdda holds a task open until GSTN confirms it.

How do we track what articles and junior staff are actually working on?

Three mechanisms, and you want all three. Assignment with role-based access tells you who owns each task. Timesheets tied to tasks tell you how long the work took — the only honest input to whether a client is profitable. Productivity reports turn both into something a partner reads at a glance. QwikCA covers all three and adds GPS attendance and a staff mobile app; Vider ATOM pairs RBAC with timesheets but has no mobile app. Our CA office management guide covers the attendance and capacity side.
